Science In the Bible 1 Fall 2015 Part 8

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force spokesperson Roberta Sklar admitted in an ABC news story that today's young lesbians and bisexuals have a "more flexible view" about sexuality and see it as "a fluid thing."

Thus, while no one knows for sure what causes a homosexual identity to develop, recent research confirms that permanent change is, indeed, possible. In 2001, Dr. Robert Spitzer of Columbia University, a strong ally of gay-identified activists, published results from a study of 200 gay men and lesbians who had sought "re-orientation" therapy. Spitzer found that most have been able to achieve fulfilling heterosexual relationships. While his research shows that such change often involves a long and difficult journey, it is nevertheless possible for highly motivated individuals.

Even more recently in 2007, a landmark study was published by Drs. Stanton Jones and Mark Yarhouse which concluded that it is possible for homosexuals to change their physical attractions and that such efforts to bring about change do not appear to be psychologically harmful. Entitled Ex-Gays? A Longitudinal Study of Religiously Mediated Change in Sexual Orientation, this groundbreaking research has been hailed by experts from both sides of the debate as being the most methodologically rigorous to date.

And as more evidence of the fact that people can and do change their sexual orientation, groups like Restored Hope Network  represent thousands of people who have made the choice to walk out of their homosexual and bisexual identities. Similar organizations exist for Roman Catholics (Courage), Mormons (North Star), Jews (JONAH) and Muslims (StraightWay).

Even in the secular cultural arena we see evidence of well-known people who have changed their sexual orientation. Examples of formerly gay-identified celebrities who reportedly have become involved in relationships with people of the opposite gender include actors Anne Heche and Julie Cypher. Apparently, the reality that people can change their sexual identity isn't just a right-wing Christian thing.

Clearly, homosexual advocates and their allies aren't dealing with all the evidence in their insistence that people are "born gay" and cannot change.”

Bruce Jenner’s DNA is still male, regardless of surgeries.  As are all transgendered people.

tradition is accused of being a biblical literalist or a homophobic racist, because, in part, of the more fundamental change in our society towards permissiveness, that is, easy divorce, cohabitation and concubinage, abortion, pornography ... and euthanasia. The issue of the homosexual is not separate ... it's all part and parcel of the pandemonium that the permissive movement has brought. We have just licensed all kinds of behavior."

People are born sinners, not gay.  The natural order is male and female.  It is sin which makes one partake in this immoral behavior.

Being gay is not equivalent to being of an ethnic or minority group.  One is creation (ethnicity and melanin distribution), one is a choice.  All sides have a somewhat agreement on this.

The latest theory on the gay gene by those desperately trying to find one is “epigenetics”.  That the parent(s) pass down a genetic marker which presupposes homosexuality, like the so called “warrior gene.”  However, it is acknowledged that homosexuality would be much less of a genetic imprint or marker than compulsiveness, overeating, anxiety and the like.  And many, many people have those genetic markers, yet do not participate or even appear to be unduly tempted in those areas.  Most people with the “warrior” gene never show elevated aggressiveness in any way.

Answering Homosexuality’s Toughest Questions

1)     The Bible never says this is wrong.  The sins of Sodom were pride, fullness of bread and inhospitality according to Ezekiel 16:49.  And Scriptures that refer to homosexual behavior indicate temple prostitution, not regular homosexual relations.  Of course this thinking is destroyed with a cursory glance and study of the Scriptures.

2)     Jesus said some were born eunuchs, Matthew 19:2.  Yes, eunuchs mean no sexual relations, not homosexual relations.

3)    Jesus never mentioned homosexuality, so it must not be important.  No, it wasn’t prevelant, and was abhorrent.  Jesus never mentioned child sacrifice, LSD, rape, or any number of things.  But the principals are given throughout the Bible, which is His Word.

4)    Love is all that matters.  You can’t help who you love.  It’s not hurting anybody.  It’s two consenting adults.  We believe in individual rights.  So what if a person falls in love with a 2 year old, is that ok?  Animals?  And as a society we have marriage benefits in tax law, companies with insurance etc.  It does affect others.  How about children.

5)     I’ve felt same sex attraction since I was young.  I’m sure I’m homosexual.  Because of man’s fallen nature, many different types of sins stalk mankinds fallen heart.  This would be one.  Besides many environmental factors that play into it.

6)    It’s a free country.  Yes, but freedom has limitations.

7)    Should homosexual behavior be criminalized?  It was until recently, or treated as a behavioural disorder until 1973.  America was the most prosperous nation on earth during that time.

Conclusion, homosexuality is an act not a class of persons.  You are granting special rights to those who participate in sin, saying they supersede the rights of conscience and religion.  This has been brought about by a concerted effort of activists and the media, but not by science.  The genetics and DNA of a male who participates in homosexual activity is the same as that of a heterosexual male, and the same is true of females.  Any differences in the brains, or epigenetic markers, of those participating in

In this article, he says:

“Well, as I have said, there is no gay gene. And there are factors more influential than biology. The best data, of course, [comes from the Framingham Study]. If you are a man and you grow up in a rural environment, you are four times less likely to have homosexual relationships than if you grow up in a metropolitan area. That's not left-handedness. If you are a lesbian, you are much more likely to be college-educated. That's not something that happens at conception. My point is that we now know that the environment is very important…It really is amazing ... I mean, 50 years ago [homosexual behavior] was a crime, and now we're talking about [same-sex marriage]. Anyone who wants to stick with the homosexuality are posterior in nature, and caused by homosexual behavior, and are not the cause of the behavior.

Science In the Bible 1 Fall 2015 Part 9

There is hope for the homosexual.  Don’t let the floodtide of the world’s opinion carry you away into delusion.

1 Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

Racism

It is a fact that prejudices exist around the world.  Most of these are amongst people of similar genetic characteristics – Scots and Brits,
Koreans and Japanese, Hutus and Tutsis, Inidans and Pakistanis, Sunnis and Shias, Israelis and Palestinian, Hispanic countries throughout Central and South America etc.  Everywhere you go, the works of the flesh of variance and emulations predominate.

But these are more ethnic, national, and religious prejudices, not racial.  Since the human genome has been sequenced, we now realize more fully than ever that races are an artificial construct, and that there is 1 race – the Human Race.

Just a cows through breeding can have certain characteristics, so have humans interacted in certain areas to acquire some particular outward characteristics.  But this is not a different “kind” at all, just variation within a species, which God is His awesomeness built into

DNA.

We can have different types of dogs, but they are still dogs.  And all scientists would say that all current dog/wolf species originated with an original archetype.  We have different color roses, but they all began with an original rose.

Satan causes unnecessary division.  So it has been with the construct of “race”, which is never mentioned in the Bible.  The Bible mentions people, nations, tongues, tribes, but never race.  As a matter of fact, it says we are of 1 blood.

Acts 17:26 “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;”

People of different melanin can freely transmit blood one to another, as long as the blood type matches.  They also have the ability to procreate.

God set certain genetic walls to prevent the different kinds from intermixing in Genesis 1.  These are still  immutable.  But no such walls exist in the human race with each other.

So God wants allegiance to Him, not our ethnicity.  That is the purview of the world and evolution to camp up and discriminate in this way.

Darwin and his defenders were avid racists.  So was Hitler.  So is the KKK, New Black Panther Party, Nation of Islam, La Raza etc.

The full title of Darwin’s seminal 1859 work is “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of favored races  in the Struggle for Life”.  Darwinism is racism  That is why Planned Parenthood overwhelmingly targets the Black and Hispanic communities.

The Foundation of Prayer

Prayer is rooted, founded, grounded and nourished up in and by our relationship with our God. The Lord Jesus instructed us in

Luke 11:2 (KJV) “When ye pray, say, Our Father”.  This instruction is founded on

John 1:12-13 (KJV) 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. When we received faith from God by grace to believe in the Lord Jesus and are born of God being born again of water, baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and of the Spirit, baptized in His Spirit,

John 3:5 and Acts 2:38, we are born of God. Now not only is God our Father through creation but now in Christ He is our Father in the new creation and we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ

Rm.8:14-17. The God that called us into this fellowship is faithful,

1 Cor. 1:9, therefore let us faithfully respond in prayer to this relationship of fellowship as His children rather than a well deserving servants.

In Luke 11:11-13 the Lord reveals to us the confidence we are to have in prayer based on this relationship, because we all as children of our earthly parents came to them to ask for what we needed based solely on that relationship and received that which was asked, and as earthly parents, marred by sin which we were conceived in, come so short of the likeness of our heavenly Father yet we give good gifts to our children, how much more shall our heavenly Father give us of the gifts and graces of His Spirit if as His children we come and ask based solely on the relationship of the fellowship we were called unto. Like the father in

Luke 15:20-24 our Heavenly Father has already saw us, had compassion, ran, and fell on our necks, and kissed us, and has said bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet and let us be merry, this is revealed in

2 Cor. 5:18-19, 21, God was in Christ reconciling us to Himself and by faith in Christ Jesus we are the children of God,

Gal.3:26, therefore let us merrily go to God in prayer as His children, for through him (Christ Jesus) we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father,

Eph. 2:18. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Apostolic Time Management

:  Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”  This was written by Moses.

The head of Apple just attributed their Company’s success to time management.

Ben Franklin said, “Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of.”

All of us are allotted a certain number of days.  In 70 years, we live 2,208,986,640.  That is 31,556,952 seconds per year.  That’s 3,600 seconds an hour, and 86,400 seconds in a day.  The average human, if they live to 70, lives 25,550 days.

“I have only just a minute, Only sixty seconds in it.Forced upon me, can’t refuse it.  Didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it.  But it’s up to me to use it.  I must suffer if I lose it.  Give account if I abuse it.  Just a tiny little minute, but eternity is in it.”

By Dr. Benjamin E. Mays

The Bible says so much about time, so where do we start?

There are 168 hours in a week.  We’ll get back to that.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  Just as God owns all of our possessions, so He owns our time as well.

Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Where is your time treasure?  What does it say about you and your love for God?

God must have thought time meant something, because He created it, and told how much time it took to create everything in Genesis 1.

Genesis 1:14 “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:”

God even uses time for prophecy:  7 years, 1,290 days etc.

Wasted time can never be regained.

Romans 13:11-13 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.  Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.”

John 9:4 “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”

I Thessalonians 5:6 “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.”

Proverbs 20:13 “Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.”

Self motivation is a Scriptural Principle.  It is highly tied to time management.  Proverbs 6:6-11 says, “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:  Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.  How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?  Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:  So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.”

Proverbs 19:15 “Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.”

Value every moment.  The King’s business requires haste.  Treasure time and use if for God.  We will have to answer for wasted time.  Don’t compare yourselves amongst yourselves, just give all to Jesus.

James 4:14 “…For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

In the graveyard, in the Nursing Home etc. are books that were never written, songs that were never sung, worship that was never given, Bible Studies never taught.

2 Corinthians 6:2 “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Some fret over yesterday.  Forget yesterday’s disappointments and go on for Jesus!

Life’s too short to spend on gossiping, grudges, backbiting, hatred, regret, bitterness.  Live for God great right now!  It’s all we have, the present of the present.

If you sleep 1 less hour per nite, you can add 2.92 years of productivity to your life.  Work smarter, not necessarily harder.  But work hard, yes!!  Multi-task.  Make each moment a God moment, benefitting His kingdom, enjoying Him, teaching for Him etc.  You’ll be glad you did.

Give 24 hours to Jesus on Sunday.

Sleep 7 hours per nite the other 6 nites – 42 hours.  Work 60 hours per week.

Spend 2 hours a day in prayer and Bible study, working for Jesus – 12 hours

9 hours a week in personal time, grooming, exercise, waking up etc.  12 hours per week eating.

You’ve still got 9 hours per week to do other things.  Now of course if you’ve got children…But you can still organize your time and your life for Jesus!

What we don’t have time for are vanities.  Secular movies, sports, surfing the internet mindlessly, being obsessed with ourselves, gossip, backbiting, negativity, slander, depression, discouragement, regret, boasting etc.  Time wasters, that waste that invaluable gift God has given to us.  Life, to serve Him.   The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing!

Deuteronomy 32:21 “They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities:…”  Worthless things

There are prayers that haven’t been prayed because of vanities.  Let’s apply our hearts unto wisdom!!

Satan works constantly.  Let’s do our best for Jesus!
